Full description for The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: (International Exclusive) * Sir Derek Jacobi`s gripping, suspenseful and hugely entertaining reading brings the stories of Holmes and Watson to life. Scandal, treachery and crime are rife in Old London town. A king blackmailed by his mistress, dark dealings in opium dens, stolen jewels, a missing bride - these are cases so fiendishly complex that only Sherlock Holmes would dare to investigate. For he, and he alone, has the great strokes of
brilliance and almost unhuman energy which could solve them. This collection of short stories includes: "A Scandal in Bohemia", "A Case of Identity", "The Red-Headed League", "The Boscombe Valley Mystery", "The Five Orange Pips", "The Man with the Twisted Lip", "The Blue Carbuncle", "The Speckled Band", "The Engineer`s Thumb", "The Noble Bachelor", "The Beryl Coronet" and "The Copper Beeches". Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh in 1859 and died in 1930. He set up as a doctor in Southsea, and it was while waiting for patients that he began to write. As well as his Sherlock Holmes stories, Conan Doyle wrote historical romances and science fiction.
